Item #6679

Gibson Style A-1 Model Carved Top Mandolin (1914), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 25030, natural top, cherry stained back and sides finish, birch back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black hard shell case.

Overall length is 25 7/8 in. (65.7 cm.), 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) width, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). An amazingly clean and all original Gibson, just past its 100th birthday. Only very minor wear, the plating still shines. There are no major repairs; even the often-separated back seams are tight and neat. A very cool time-capsule mandolin, with a nice ringy sound. Overall Excellent + Condition.
