Item #1968

Gibson SJ-200 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1951, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, brown sunburst lacquer finish, maple body and neck, spruce top, Brazilian rosewood bridge and fingerboard, original brown hard shell case.

A great looking and sounding early 1950's SJ-200, Gibson's "King of the Flattop Guitars". This guitar still has many 1940's-style features: dark vibrant sunburst finish with burl maple back, early style pickguard with outline, tapered headstock, and joined dot Gibsom logo. Tuners are the earliest keystone button Kluson Deluxe with the shaft not anchoring in the housing.

A very powerful sounding guitar, far superior to most later versions.

Overall length is 42 1/4 in. (107.3 cm.), 17 in. (43.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 5/16 in. (643 mm.).

Overall very attractive; several well-repaired top cracks and some touched-up strum wear under the strings are the only major indications that this guitar has been in use for over 50 years. Complete with excellent original brown case -- the slightly cheaper version with the brown flannel lining instead of pink plush! Excellent Condition.
