Gibson SG Standard 61 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (2019), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 113390335, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
This 2019 cherry SG is a nicely done (but non-"Historic") re-issue of the classic 1961 Les Paul/SG Standard. The features are basically correct without being EXACTLY period authentic, with a more player-friendly stop tailpiece in place of the quirky side-to-side vibrato unit and without the short-lived "Les Paul" markings of the original. The neck is friendly and sleek, a hair deeper and rounder than most original '62s but retains the fairly flat profile characteristic of this period's SGs. The pickups sound great giving this SG a brighter, more fluid sound than some which cranks up to raunch easily enough. This is a nice example of the modern Gibson re-engineering its classic instruments and genuinely honoring to their roots.
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This instrument appears basically new, appearing hardly used at all. It plays and sounds excellent, exceptionally light and handy, even for an SG. It includes a passel of original paperwork and accessories in the original Brown Tolex HSC, a nice example of the modern Gibson company doing things right. Excellent + Condition.
