Item #2031
Gibson LG-3 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1953), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, mahogany sides, back and neck, spruce top, original brown chipboard case.
A good early 1950's example of Gibson's premier small body flat-top guitar, well preserved with some restoration. The LG-3 is the same instrument as the LG-2 with a "finer selection" of woods and a natural top finish.
These pre-1955 guitars have a small tortoise pattern pickguard, rectangular bridge, triple bound top and single bound back, and block script Gibson logo. Reproduction enclosed strip Kluson tuners with plastic buttons.
Slim round comfortable neck, frets in perfect condition; overall a fine crisp-sounding early 1950's Gibson in ready-to-gig condition.
Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
Excellent playing condition; recently restored with reproduction bridge and tuners. Finish very nice overall with some marring into, but not through, the finish in the bridge area from a previous bridge removal, and light dings overall.
Original pickguard has some wear marks; otherwise top is quite clean with light checking, very little playwear, and a great amber patina.
Plays and sounds excellent, complete with original alligator soft shell case with Gibson plaque. Excellent Condition.
