Item #6557
Gibson LG-1 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1958), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, brown chipboard case.
Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 7/16 in. (36.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Very nice original condition overall; there are signs of use (small dings and chips to the finish-most notably a spot worn away on the lower soundhole edge, and a small chip off the headstock corner) but still a very clean-looking guitar with no alterations. There is one repaired crack along the treble side of the fingerboard that is cleated under the soundhole rim. The plating on the Kluson Deluxe strip tuners shows some light corrosion, and the G string shaft is bent downwards somewhat but still functions properly. This is a very good playing and sounding LG-1 with the chunkier neck typical of 1950's Gibsons, a nice find in a mid-priced vintage flat top. Overall Excellent - Condition.
