Item #7837
Gibson LG-0 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1967), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original black chipboard case.
This is a nicely original example of Gibson's least expensive flat top from the 1960s, the LG-0. Intended for students, it features all mahogany construction, including a tortoise celluloid-bound solid mahogany top with ladder bracing, and a wooden bridge with an adjustable wooden saddle. The tortoise celluloid pickguard is screwed to the top, and the tuners are Japanese-made strip units. This example has the rather narrow fingerboard at the nut common to late '60s Gibsons. The LG-0 is about as simple as a Gibson ever got, but true to the company's intentions, still a great-playing little guitar.
Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 9/16 in. (40 mm.).
Very clean overall, without a lot of wear and only light checking. There is one area of finish loss on the bass bout shoulder side, where the guitar likely rubbed against a case latch or handle rivet. This is a good-playing, nice-sounding example of this most basic of all Gibsons. Excellent - Condition.
