Item #12339
Gibson Les Paul Custom Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1982), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 80832522, black lacquer finish, mahogany body with maple cap; laminated maple neck with ebony fingerboard, molded plastic hard shell case.
Overall length is 39 1/4 in. (99.7 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.)., 11.8 lbs.
This 42 year old Les Paul Custom shows some general play wear overall, appearing well-used but not abused. The all-original finish shows dings, dents and scuffs overall but no really heavy wear except the sides of the neck is worn down to the bare wood from play. The gold plating is fairly heavily worn away on the pickup covers, bridge top and tailpiece. The bridge is a standard Gibson style Tune-O-Matic; the original Gibson/Schaller one is in the case. The knobs and switch tip are replacements and there is no pickguard. The original tuners are the quirky "internal crank" machines Gibson promoted heavily around this time.
The original Tim Shaw era pickups are intact, date coded 382; the original pots are coded 8135 and the wiring is unaltered. Externally there is a replaced gold jackplate. The original frets show some wear in the lower positions and have been re-crowned but still play fine. This guitar has obviously had a gigging life behind it, but has survived et up and ready to go, it lives in a later molded plastic Hiscox touring HSC with some sticker detritus and the name "Disasters" stenciled on the lid. Overall Very Good + Condition.
