Item #3801
Gibson L-5C Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1964), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst lacquer finish, maple body and neck; spruce top, original black hard shell case.
A stunningly well-preserved early 1960's L-5C, the epitome of Gibson's carved-top heritage. By this time these full-body carved top guitars were being made in very limited numbers; only 23 sunburst L-5C models left the factory in 1964. This one still looks nearly new, with the addition of a period top-of-the-line gold-plated DeArmond pickup with controls through the pickguard and a strap button to the neck heel. Plays effortlessly with the absolutely classic Gibson-DeArmond tone. One of the finest examples of a 1960's L-5 we have ever seen...or heard!
Overall length is 41 7/8 in. (106.4 cm.), 17 in. (43.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
Extremely clean overall; finish and gold still shiny and practically new in appearance. Only a few minor dings as well as the DeArmond installation keeps this guitar from being described as near mint. Excellent + Condition.
