Item #4930
Gibson L-50 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1960), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # R5015-1, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, maple back and sides; spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
An unusual combination...a 1960 L-50 (which was a lower-priced archtop) with gold-plated hardware! All appears to be factory correct period parts, but the tuner bushings have been changed and the tuners have tulip buttons so we suspect this was a customer or dealer upgrade. Whatever the story, it makes for an unusually flashy 16" archtop from the period, and a good-sounding one to boot! Even better, the deluxe brown Gibson case is included, making for an especially classy package!
Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Some play wear but overall very nice. No major damage or repairs, just some random dings and scratches. Excellent Condition.
