Item #6108

Gibson L-37 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1938), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, maple back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

A very nice example overall; all original except the pickguard is missing. There is some light/medium wear, with some pick scratches to the top but nothing severe. The center seam has been cleanly repaired with no overfinish on the upper half of the back. There is a heavier spot of wear on the lower back region, into but not through the finish.

There is an old Dymo type label with "Blarney Stone" affixed to the tailpiece crossbar, so this guitar has spent some time in Irish music environs. It remains an excellent player with a new correct style refret; there are some old divots to the lower part of the fingerboard. Sounds very well; a nice player's example of a small-body pre-WWII carved top guitar. Includes a semi-functional original SSC. Excellent - Condition.
