Item #4284

Gibson L-1 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1930, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Cremona brown sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, black tolex hard shell case.

A particularly rare and wonderful Gibson flat top, the 1929-30 L-1 combines features from earlier and later eras into a unique package. With the larger, flat bottomed body and X-braced top used throughout the 1930's but the older cremona brown sunburst and script "The Gibson" logo these 12-fret L-1's are a particularly attractive looking-and sounding-guitar.

Overall length is 38 3/4 in. (98.4 cm.), 14 7/8 in. (37.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 5/16 in. (11 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Quite a bit of play wear but no major cracks or repairs except for a neckset and perfect repro bridge. Recent repro tuners (very close to the original Waverly style), the silver paint "The Gibson" logo is partially missing. A really fine sounding old Gibson flat top! Very Good + Condition.
