Gibson L-00 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2019), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 13419609, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
This is Gibson's modern "Standard" version of the venerable L-00, a classic flat top most associated with the Depression era. The company's rather pithy description is this: "Developed in the 30's, the L-00 was an industry standard for many years. The L-00 Standard beautifully captures the heritage of those exemplary early models. With perfect balance, the L-00 has unparalleled projection not found in comparable small body guitars."
For the most part this is a fairly close re-creation of the typical 14-fret pre-war L-00 but not an exact re-issue or replica of any specific version. The top finish is fairly dark brown sunburst, more discreetly shaded than most originals. The neck is round-backed and fairly shallow in profile (most originals had a heavy "V") and the tuners are modern enclosed Grover single-unit machines. The headstock has a pearl Gibson logo, something never seen on the low-budget 1930s originals! This is a nice playing and fine sounding guitar, still a good bargain in a smaller-body Gibson flat top. This one includes the original case and warranty booklet indicating it was originally sold out of Fuller's Guitar in Texas in 2020.
Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 5/8 in. (37.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/16 in. (10.6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar appears really not much played, the finish has mostly only some light handling wear although there is one small chip missing below the treble side bridge wing. An undersaddle pick up is fitted wired to an endpin jack wit the tone and volume controls neatly fitted under the soundhole rim. A strap button has been fitted to the neck heel. This is a good playing and sounding guitar ready to gig in a excellent HSC. Overall Excellent - Condition.
