Item #2716

Gibson L-00 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1941, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark stained back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top; rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

A very nice L-00 from the final period of the model's run with the typical cosmetics: wide-center sunburst finish, firestripe celluloid pickguard, early Kluson strip tuners, and white paint "Gibson" script logo.

These later necks have a rounder profile than the mid-1930's style deep "V", and many folks find them more comfortable to play. This is a very fine sounding example with a smoother, deeper tone than many of this model we have had.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

Very nice overall with some typical wear and minor repairs but no major issues. The top center seam has been re-sealed visibly, the bridge has been re-glued, and there is some strumwear through the finish above the soundhole and in that general region. There is one area on the rim just south of the neck joint with a small impact repai -- solid but visible, and not finished over. The tuners are original but the buttons have been replaced.

Overall a very solid playing example, with a newer HSC. Excellent - Condition.
