Item #4092
Gibson L-00 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1935, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black soft shell case.
An extremely well-preserved, nicely original, early-mid 1930's Gibson smallbody flat-top. Bound top with VERY small sunburst area and dark firestripe pattern celluloid pickguard; unbound back. Rosewood fingerboard with simple pearl dot inlay and original ebony nut. The neck has a deep but not too sharp "V" profile and narrow heel. The original tuners are Depression-era special stamped strips with black celluloid buttons. The headstock is adorned with a white, screened "Gibson" logo. This is a very lightly built and extremely responsive guitar, a favorite for many playing styles and a 1930's gem.
Overall length is 40 1/4 in. (102.2 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
Very clean overall. Finish exceptionally well-preserved; one repaired top crack on bass side of fingerboard, one small repaired crack between end of fingerboard and soundhole, and reglued enter top seam. Otherwise very solid and original guitar; recent neckset and fretwork make this a very fine player. Excellent Condition.
