Item #4990
Gibson J-50 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1951), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 7316-11, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). A very good sounding 60-year-old J-50; some isolated wear but overall quite attractive. Quite a bit of wear to the back of the neck (through into the wood in several spots) but fingerboard and frets are verv playable. There is a small round patched hole (for a jack?) in an unlikely spot on the side upper treble bout; well sealed but still visible. Some scuffs to the top, but no excessive wear. Original uncut bridge, later correct-style tuners. An excellent player and a great gigging J-50. Generally Very Good + Condition.
