Item #2006
Gibson J-50 ADJ Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1964), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural top, dark stained back and sides finish, mahogany body and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, chipboard case.
Gibson's slope-shouldered Jumbo guitars were very popular in the 1960s with folk, blues, and pop players, and picking this one up it's easy to see why. It's a very comfortable guitar with a medium/slim round neck and a big warm sound.
The original owner was so impressed with this purchase they had the original warranty card laminated in plastic and it still accompanies the guitar. It was bought new for $184.00 on May 1st, 1964, and while it has seen some wear and tear, it was obviously well-loved and cared for!
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) width, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
Solid overall with some finish wear, notably strum wear on top behind the soundhole and heavy checking behind the bridge. Back and sides quite clean except for the treble side near the neck heel where there is some gouging through the finish. Added strap button on neck heel.
Nicely original example. Plays and sounds very good. Excellent Condition.
