Item #5339
Gibson J-45 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1953), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # Y6895-17 (FON), sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown alligator chipboard case.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 16 3/8 in. (41.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This is a superb '50's J-45...When we pulled this out of the case, it was a big "wow' all around. Despite some playwear to the top, this is one clean-looking guitar! The finish has a shine and depth that's faded on many guitars of this age (we love those too, of course) and it plays exquisitely, with a perfect new neck set and refret. There are threee super-tightly repaired top cracks, no other cracks and one visible scrape to the top behind the bridge. One of the best sounding and playing J-45 we have had! Excellent Condition.
