Item #5763
Gibson J-45 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1948), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 3177-18 (FON), sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). A spectacular and beautiful example of the signature 1940's Gibson flat top! No alterations or major repairs, finish is still shiny, it came in needing a few braces re-glued and that was it. The only significant wear is some scraping around the endpin jack from some sort of strap attachment, some case wear to the sides and a few chips from the headstock edges. A superb player, excellent sound with the classic Gibson edge; includes a modern HSC and (if you want it!) the original blue alligator chip case from 1948 it has lived in since new. Excellent + Condition.
