Item #4369
Gibson J-35 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1939), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black soft shell case.
A real boomer of a J-35; big V profile neck, early natural top finish with a beautifully aged look and a sound to be reckoned with! Other original features include the Kluson strip tuners with white plastic buttons, "firestripe" tortoise celluloid pickguard and silkscreen white script Gibson logo. A really fine player, one of the best sounding prewar Gibsons we've had in a long time.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 13/16 in. (12.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.). A very good player; several repaired top cracks (2 behind the bridge, one on the top pickguard edge) but no back or side cracks. One small dent into the wood on the side in the lower bass bout region. Finish is original with a slightly ambered "smoked" look (this guitar has obviously been played in some smoky dives in its lifetime!) and some overspray/buff out over the top center seam area. General checking and wear overall but less pickwear than one micht expect and no other major damage or repair. Recently refretted, ready to go with a very strong sound. Very Good + Condition.
