Gibson GB-4 Model Guitar Banjo, c. 1923, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, red sunburst varnish finish, maple neck and rim, ebony fingerboard.
An early pre-Mastertone Gibson "trapdoor" guitar-banjo, famous as the instrument used by prolific Vaudeville Bluesman "Papa" Charlie Jackson. This one has all the optional goodies including armrest, trapdoor, and grained ivoroid pickguard.
Overall length is 36 1/2 in. (92.7 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) diameter head, and 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) deep. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.).
Excellent condition with all original hardware except bridge. Appears to have had some finish work on the headstock and back of the trapdoor, but nothing obtrusive.
Plays excellent and has 'that' sound! Excellent Condition.
