Gibson Firebird XII Model 12 String Solid Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

The Firebird XII is one of the rarest variants of Gibson's 1960's high-flying bird, made only in 1966. Two hundred forty eight shipped out that year, and a further 24 stragglers in 1967, and that was it! With two bright but meaty-sounding mini-humbucking pickups, this is an exceptionally good-sounding 12-string solid-body. The "non-reverse" body is light and fairly handy, and balances the long headstock better than some other shapes.

A very cool-looking and great-playing guitar which arrived on the market just too late to take advantage of the Byrds/Beatles fueled 12-string craze, the Firebird XII is something of a lost Gibson classic.

Overall length is 43 in. (109.2 cm.), 13 7/16 in. (34.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/8 in. (2.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

Well-worn and played overall; somebody got a lot of use out of their 12-string back in the day! The guitar remains all original, except restored with a modern correct repro Tune-O-Matic bridge and a new nut. There are numerous rubs, scrapes, and dings to the finish overall; fairly heavy belt buckle wear into the finish on the back, an extra strap button hole in the upper bout edge, and one large chip out of the headstock tip on the rear bass edge. There is a small repaired crack to the control cavity just off the jack that is fairly common on these 'birds.

The guitar plays very well and sounds great, and includes the original HSC. Very Good + Condition.
