Item #3539
Gibson F-4 Model Carved Top Mandolin (1913), made in Kalamazoo, black varnish finish, spruce top, highly figured maple back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard.
This is an exquisitely well-preserved early two-point F-4, Gibson's top of the line mandolin at that time. The F-4 had been perfected from its early form by this time and was an utterly distinctive creation, almost certainly the finest mandolin in the world in 1913.
Overall length is 26 1/2 in. (0 cm.), 10 in. (0 cm.) wide, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.).
Amazingly beautiful original condition for an instrument of this age; very little playwear and no cracks or damage at all. Plays and sounds extremely nice and includes the original end-opening tooled leather case in very fine condition. Excellent + Condition.
