Item #5993

Gibson ES-330T Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1960), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # R 4808-3, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.

A nice original example of an early sunburst ES-330T. This guitar has first-generation features including bound dot rosewood fingerboard, rounder "Mickey Mouse" cutaway horns and black plastic P-90 pickup cover The nickle-plated tune-o-matic bridge is the first "no-wire" pattern with nickle saddles. The single bound body is fully hollow with a deep rich sunburst and the neck joins at the 16th fret. The P-90 pickup is mounted in the center position controlled with 1960s style amber plastic "bonnet" tone and volume knobs with unmarked metal caps. This center pickup gives a smooth midrangey tone, not as versatile as the twin pickup ES-330TD but with a distinctive sound all its own. This is simply a great playing guitar, super lightweight with the wide, flat 1960 neck only seen around this time.

Overall length is 43 1/8 in. (109.5 cm.), 16 1/8 in. (41 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Very nice overall; some wear but all original finish and hardware except for correct style repro Kluson tuners and an added strap button to the heel. There is light finish wear overall, some chips and dings to the back of the neck but no serious loss. The headstock looks to have had a bit of glue applied to the logo area-likely the lacquer was flaking there at some point. A very fine player, great honky sound typical of these single pickup guitars with a center mounted P-90. Includes a modern HSC. Overall Excellent - Condition.
