Item #6084
Gibson ES-225TN Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1957), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, Laminated maple body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
An extremely clean and 100% original example of the ES-225. A great if somewhat overlooked Gibson guitar, this instrument features a single cutaway bound sunburst thin fully hollow body with a single P-90 pickup and the patented Les Paul metal tailpiece/bridge unit. Bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, pearl Gibson logo and individual enclosed Kluson tuners with plastic buttons. The combination of the thin body, metal bridge and P-90 pickups results in a sharper tone than other '50's hollowbody guitars with plenty of P-90 "meat" and growl. The fully hollowbody also provides a pleasing if somewhat quiet acoustic sound sure to delight acoustic players seeking an amplified instrument.
This rather rare and unusual blonde variant of the ES-225 is one of 138 produced during 1957, the peak production year of this model- but not of the ES-225 line (the peak production year of the line being 1956), and one of 420 225-TN's ever built!
Overall length is 40 1/16 in. (101.8 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 15/16 in. (4.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). All original except for expertly replaced tuner buttons, pickguard mounting bracket and a de-installed bass bout tuner button. Excellent + Condition.
