Gibson ES-175D Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1989), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 81079553, natural lacquer finish, laminated mahogany back and sides, laminated maple top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

This is a very clean example of a 1989 ES-175 D, Gibson's perennial "working man's" electric archtop. This natural blonde beauty has typical late '80s features including the use of laminated mahogany or the back and sides instead of the traditional maple, a quirk of the period from 1983-90. This results in an instrument with what some describe as a just slightly mellower tone compared to the far more common all-maple examples. The top is still maple, while the neck is the mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard.

Apart from the body wood variation, this classic design is little changed from the late 1950s. It carries twin humbucking pickups and a '80s style Tune-O-Matic bridge with all hardware chrome plated. In any era the ES-175 is simply a perennial design; this is an excellent player, a great gigging jazz guitar and all-around fully hollow electric.

Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a very clean example, and appears only lightly played since new. Everything appears original on the instrument and there is only light handling wear overall with very small dinks and scuffs. There are a few tiny stress marks by the jack but no cracking through the wood. The frets show hardly any wear at all and the guitar is a fine player, in a period black Gibson-marked HSC that is a bit oversize but functional. Overall Excellent + Condition.
