Item #7646
Gibson ES-175D Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1980), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 81220060, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.
This is a super clean example of a 1980 ES-175 D, Gibson's perennial "working man's" electric arch-top. This dark tobacco sunburst beauty is from the relatively short-lived era when Gibson used a laminated maple neck on these instruments instead of the traditional mahogany, resulting in a slightly brighter overall sound. Otherwise this is a classic design little changed from the late 1950s. It is marked as a "SECOND" in large letters on the back of the headstock for no reason that is now apparent. The ES-175 is simply an perennial design, a great gigging jazz guitar and superb all-around electric.
Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar is very clean and all original. It really appears only very lightly used with only some small handling marks. This 175 sounds and plays as it should; a practically new 40 year old Gibson ready to gig! Excellent + Condition.
