Gibson ES-125 Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1959), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # S1343-9 FON, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.
A very nice example of Gibson's ES-125, the company's "bread and butter" electric guitar during the late 1940's and '50's. This model has a 16" wide, non-cutaway, full depth hollow body of laminated maple with Gibson's classic P-90 pickup in the neck position. Although marketed as a student model the ES-125 is fully functional as a professional quality instrument and are often seen in period photographs with players of many styles, and is still a favorite today.
Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). A very clean and excellent playing example; untouched finish with only light wear and no fade and minimal checking. The bridge and tailpiece are the correct style but more recent; all other hardware is original. No damage or repairs; an added strap button to the heel is the only alteration. A superb player's guitar with the warm, sweet sound these are famous for. Overall Excellent Condition.
