Item #5702

Gibson ES-125 Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1949), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 4362-12 (FON), sunburst lacquer finish, Maple top, Mahogany Back and sides, Rosewood fingerboard, black soft shell case.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This early post-WWII ES-125 has seen a lot of use but still sounds great. There is a lot of playwear to the back of the neck, but the rest of the finish is not as heavily worn-in fact the top is quite clean. Most of the hardware is original; exceptions are the tailpiece (ia period Harmony-style trapeeze) and the bridge is the correct rosewood type but a more recent piece. There is an added Gibson strap button to the heel. Original period-specific features include the tall clear knobs (one is somewhat cloudy), earliest style Kluson deluxe tuners (with newer buttons) and most important the early and short-lived P-90 pickup with fixed magnet poles. This unit was discontinued just after this guitar was made; it has a subtly different sound than the common P-90 with a bit more bite. This is a nice player with a great vibe. Overall Very Good + Condition.
