Item #2354
Gibson Electric Plectrum/5 string Red-Line Model Banjo Case, c. 1939, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, tweed finish.
One of the most obscure items we have ever run across, this appears to be the Deluxe model case for a 1938-41 Gibson EPB-150 or ERB-150 solidbody electric banjo.
Standard 1930's Gibson tweed covering with red/black stripes, luxury pink plush interior, and deluxe larger latches. Complete with original key in envelope.
If you have one of these instruments (of which only a handful exist) without a correct case, then this is an amazing find! Otherwise it's a great decorator item for the Gibson fan with (almost) everything!
Overall length is 38 1/8 in. (96.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) width, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) deep.
Excellent overall; some fading to tweed finish and light corrosion on latches. Some visible indentations on the interior from the hooks of an open-back banjo but no major wear or tears. Original tweed-covered handle very well preserved.
