Item #2637
Gibson EB-3 Model Electric Bass Guitar (1965), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex original hard shell case.
For some reason a very hard instrument to find, this is a spectacular example of a "Cream Era" Gibson EB-3 Bass very much like the one used extensively by Jack Bruce from 1966-69. These double pickup EB's were made in respectable quantities during the mid 1960's, but most examples that surface now are the late 60's and early 70's models, which have numerous differences from the "Right" ones!
This bass is an all-original '65 in very fine condition -- even the felt in the mute is intact. The two pickups are controlled by a 4-way selector, giving a much wider range of tone than the much more common EB-0. This is the only bass with the perfect sound and feel for "home made Cream"!
Overall length is 40 7/8 in. (103.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) deep. Scale length is 30 1/2 in. (775 mm.).
Overall one of the cleanest we've seensome light checking and very minor dings. Cherry finish is bright with very little fade, no cracks or repairs ever. Plating is chipping somewhat on treble pickup; looks like nickel plating underneath the chrome!
All original, except handrest removed, but so was Jack's! Original orange-lined black shaped case with gold Gibson plaque also has very little wear. Excellent Condition.
