Item #2665

Gibson EB-1 Model Electric Bass Guitar (1954), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original brown hard shell case.

Just about the coolest electric bass ever designedand one of the most eccentric! The "Gibson Electric Bass" (the EB-1 name was not used until 1958, when the EB-2 debuted) first issued in 1953 is one of the earliest solidbody basses, and owes nothing but general concept to the slightly earlier (late 1951) Fender Precision.

EB-1's are the clearest sounding of the 30" scale Gibson bassesthe large brown-covered pickup is a single coil (the huge coil is mounted on its side) and has more mid/high content than the 1958 and later humbucking versions.

We are very pleased to have TWO original 1950's Gibson Electric Basses currently in stock (see our stock #2622).

Overall length is 44 1/4 in. (112.4 cm.), 11 1/4 in. (28.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) deep. Scale length is 30 1/2 in. (775 mm.).

This bass is very clean for its era, and includes the original pink-lined brown HSC and the endpin allowing stand-up play. 100% stock and unaltered. Original plastic jack plate is still in place but is broken and would need to be replaced for convenience in playing.

A really nice example of a rare and desirable bass. Excellent Condition.
