Item #2560
Carson J. Robison Model 926 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, made by Gibson, c. 1934, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark stained back and sides finish, mahogany body and neck, spruce top.
Essentially a Kalamazoo Senior by another name, this little Carson J. Robison flat top was built by Gibson, sold by Montgomery Ward, and named for the well-known cowboy singer, who was still a radio star in the mid-1930s, although looking increasingly long in the tooth!
Deep sunburst top with the tiniest possible 'burst center, checkerboard soundhole edging, and squared-off peghead. This is a ladder-braced mahogany guitar with a fairly big, barky sound despite the small body. A good choice for fingerstyle or slide blues playing.
Overall length is 37 1/2 in. (95.2 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
Some average wear; several repaired back cracks and the deepest thumb gouge in the back of a neck we have ever seen!
Top finish is in surprisingly good condition, as is the original laquered-over bridge. The neck has been reset with a bolt through the heel, a professional job if not exactly currently recommended practice. A neat and funky little guitar. Very Good + Condition.
