Flot-A-Tone Model 400 Model Tube Amplifier (1958), made in Milwaukee, Wis., serial # 1045, brown tolex covering finish.

The Milwaukee based Flot-A-Tone company made amplifiers mostly for the accordion market in the 1950's, but they also serve guitarists and Harp players very well. This Model 400 was one of the lower priced Flot-A-Tones, putting out about 8-10 watts with two channels through an 8" speaker with 3 knobs - 2 volumes and a master on/off tone. The back panel also has two jacks, a phone style and an Amphenol, a pilot light and fuse holder. A cool and well-made period tube amp, and pretty great sounding-it really kicks in to furious overdrive when it goes up past 4 1/2.

Height is 18 in. (45.7 cm.), 12 7/8 in. (32.7 cm.) width, and 8 1/4 in. (21 cm.) deep. Very clean overall; recent recap, original speaker; newer tubes and a 3-prong power cord added. Better preserved than many, a nice example of this fairly rare amp. Excellent + Condition.
