Fender Telecaster TL-52-80 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar, c. 2000, made in Japan, serial # P082416/A030473, natural finish, ash body, maple neck, molded black plastic hard shell case.

This TL-52-80 is a premium Japanese made "blackguard" re-issue, a popular model the stayed in production for decades. The "80" is the designation for the higher end model. This one carries a "P" series number on the neck heel along with "Crafted in Japan" which date it to 1999-2002. The bridge has an older serial number stamped into the metal common to Japanese made '52 reissues, these pre-stamped bridgeplates were used by Fender Japan for years.

The nicely grained ash body is finished in natural finish instead of blonde, typical of this period. The maple neck has a noticeable "soft V" contour characteristic of some of these, not really accurate to 1952 but slim and comfortable if you are partial to this feel. This one has stock US-made pickups (probably Texas Specials) with cloth leads, although the pots and switch are standard cheaper Fender Japan components. This one has been rewired in the old "Eric Weissberg" scheme with the control plate turned around so the switch is at the rear and the volume control in front for easier manipulation. This is a good playing and sounding workhorse Tele, with the pickups definitely optimized for better sound.

Overall length is 38 3/8 in. (97.5 cm.), 12 5/8 in. (32.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This guitar appears original except for the "session man" reversed control plate rewiring, showing some light wear but nothing too serious. The body has some small dings and dents mostly into but not through the finish, heaviest on the back with some deeper dents along the back edge. There are a few small chips to the neck finish, a but of loss on the edges and one chip to the treble side fingerboard edge at the 6th fret.

The hardware has some scuffing and minor corrosion, most notably to the brass bridge saddles. The guitar appears original except for the reversed and rewired controls and some basically useless copper shielding foil added under the pickguard. This is a nice playing modern/vintage Telecaster housed in a shaped molded Fender HSC marked as for a B-Bender model. Overall Excellent - Condition.
