Item #5434
Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1980), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S887438, blonde polyester finish, alder body, maple neck, black gig bag case.
Here's a late CBS/Fender Precision that's a better player than most; very light body, sleek maple neck, a great feel. Here in NYC this style Precision with the black pickguard on a white/cream body is celebrated as the signature bass of the Ramones and by extension the Sex Pistols with Sid. This one's ready to go back out on the road for another 30 years
Overall length is 46 in. (116.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Appears all original except for most of the pickguard screws (correct style but black instead of nickel), larger period strap buttons and typically the chrome pickup and bridge covers are missing. Correct electronics (Pots dated 1980) and no modifications except for 5 fairly prominent extra screw holes and some associated uneven fading on the face, the evidence of several past efforts to relocate the thumbrest. Very light weight body for this era; good frets (slightly flattened crown) an excellent player. Overall Excellent - Condition.
