Item #9638
Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1976), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 587482, sunburst polyester finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
This is a very nice example of a mid-'70s Fender Precision, in the still-standard sunburst finish with the then-new black pickguard. At under 9.5 pounds, this is a little below average for a '75 and has a nice resonant and growly tone.
The neck heel has no date markings (not unusual for this period), but does carry a couple of inspection ink stamps, while the pots are dated to the 33rd week of 1975. The features are typical for this mid-70s period, with the plastic finger rest now located above the strings. The poly-finished maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard and a 1 5/8" nut, topped off with the large black Fender logo decal.
This bass still plays and sounds great; an excellent gigging and recording instrument and more proof that, even in the depths of the CBS-Fender era, the Precision Bass was a design that was almost foolproof!
Overall length is 46 in. (116.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.)., 9.4 lbs.
This is a nice clean original bass, showing just some minor wear overall and no repairs or alterations. There are some minor scuffs, dings and dents to the finish, but no major worn areas. The chrome covers are later Fender issue, but all else insi de and out remains original. This is a very good player with a solid sound, creeping up on 50 years old and still the world standard in low-end muscle. The original black Tolex Fender case is included, fully solid with some light external wear. Overall Excellent Condition.
