Item #5400
Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1972), made in Fullerton, California, sunburst finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
A fine example of an early '70's Precision Bass, still with a very late '60's vibe. The 3-color sunburst is bright and unfaded; combined with old-school P-Bass features like the chrome bridge and pickup covers, tortoise plastic pickguard and the fingerrest below the strings, gives this bass a classic period look. The neck is dated May 1972, and the pot codes are 22nd week of that year. It is also a fine player, a very light and great handling bass with the sound one would expect. Overall one of the nicest 70's Fender basses we have had.
Overall length is 45 3/4 in. (116.2 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Very clean and original, including both covers; the only alteration to this bass is an extra hole in the pickguard from where the fingerrest was mounted at one point over the strings. Some light edgewear and buckling to the back finish, the face is very clean. Frets are excellent; this bass is currently set up with flatwound strings and appears to have carried them much of its life. Includes a fine OHSC. Excellent Condition.
