Item #7111
Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1964), made in Fullerton, California, Olympic White lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
This bass is a super nice and entirely original example of an Olympic White Precision from the just-pre-CBS fall of 1964. The pots are dated 64-40 (40th week) and the neck date is Octoper 64; the bass retains all the classic pre-CBS features including the clay dot, rosewood fingerboard neck, thick tortoise celluloid pickguard, and thin lacquer finish. A wonderful instrument for any style of music; an absolute joy to play, appreciate, and just marvel at the glory days of Fender goodness.
Overall length is 45 7/8 in. (116.5 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
Overall this Custom color Precision is very well-preserved, with no alterations and some light typical wear. The white body has acquired an overall yellow/blonde patina as the lacquer overcoat has aged, as is typical with this finish. There are small dings and chips to the finish overall, mostly to the edges, and a larger spot worn away on the bottom edge near the lower strap button, but the face has only light wear. All parts are original. The neck is dead straight and this bass is simply a joy to play; light and extremely resonant with the absolutely classic Precision sound. Overall Excellent - Condition.
