Item #2779
Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1963), made in Fullerton, California, Lake Placid Blue lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.
A great-playing example of a pre-CBS custom color Fender bass, with obvious playwear but no major modifications or alterations.
This instrument carries a neck date of OCT 63 and has all the desirable early-1960s features, including clay dot fingerboard inlay, mint green heavy celluloid pickguard, low L-series serial number, early lacquer finish with the visible paint stick mark in the neck pocket, reverse Kluson tuning gears, and spaghetti-style Fender logo.
While Lake Placid blue is not one of the rarer custom colors, true pre-CBS examples like this are hard to come by. A true relic of the surf era and a great bass for any style of music.
Overall length is 46 in. (116.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) deep. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.).
Very original condition with considerable finish wear to the back and edges; face still very attractive. All original, except one pot replaced and fingerrest is a reproduction. Very Good + Condition.
