Item #3453

Fender Mustang Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Fullerton, California, red lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.

A particularly nice example of a 1966 Mustang, Fender's classiest student guitar and favorite of countless teen garage bands in the 60's and 70's. The body sports a vibrant red finish (Mustang finishes lack the heavy clearcoat of higher-end Fender finishes, thus tend to stay truer in color). The pickguard is laminated with a white pearloid top layer. Neck is dated Feb '66 and pots are coded to 9th week of '66, with pickups hand-dated March 25 of that year. An American classic and still a great deal in a clean, original 1960's Fender guitar!

Overall length is 39 7/8 in. (101.3 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

All original with only light finish wear. Includes original case with an unusual added period Fender decal. Excellent + Condition.
