Item #7850

Fender Mustang Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1976), made in Fullerton, California, black polyester finish, alder body, maple neck, brown hard shell case.

Overall length is 42 1/8 in. (107 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) deep. Scale length is 30 in. (762 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This black beauty is a light, handy, and great-playing example of Fender's classic short-scale Mustang bass, played-in but not abused. The finish shows scuffing on the back, some dings and a few touch-up spots on the front, and the pickguard has some scuffing as well, but overall this is a nice original bass without any intrusive wear.

It remains complete and unaltered except the rarely used foam mutes are missing from the bridge assembly, and someone neatly drilled two small tapped holes in the rear flange of the bridge baseplate, for reasons unknown today. There is an old music store sticker on the back of the headstock. The body of this bass is much lighter than many '70s examples (and some '60s ones as well) and this is a super pleasant bass to play, one of the best 4-string Mustangs of the decade we have had. Overall Excellent - Condition.
