Item #4319

Fender Musicmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1958), made in Fullerton, California, desert sand finish, alder body, maple neck, brown hard shell case.

An extremely nice and fairly early exmple of Fender's first student guitarthe unassuming but very functional Musicmaster. Built primarily to expand the company's hold on the teaching studio/young student market these guitars were many players' first electric, far more playable than most and stylish in an understated way. The Musicmaster features a short-scale maple neck and a single pickup with volume and tone controls. This guitar dates to 1958 with beautiful undisturbed electronics featuring pots from the 7th week of that year. The neat, comfortable little neck has the classic '58 Fender "rounded V" profile. The original anodised metal pickguard still looks sharp! This guitar still has the original snap-on bridge cover and has not been stripped of its more valuable parts (knobs, neckplate, pots and wiring) as so many have! A neat package, includes original tan case, tawny leather strap and and gray cord. A very cool and relatively affordable 1950's Fender guitar for playing or collecting.

Overall length is 37 5/8 in. (95.6 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 1/2 in. (572 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Minor wear (mostly to maple fingerboard in the first 3 frets-someone worked really hard on their E, D and A chords!) and some strum wear to the anodized pickguard but 100% original with no repairs, modifications or foolishness at all. A really good player, one of the nicest of these we have had. Excellent + Condition.
