Item #2433

Fender Jazzmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1965), made in Fullerton, California, Olympic White finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, recovered original hard shell case.

This is an interesting example of a custom-order Fender Jazzmaster, with a mix of pre-CBS and early-CBS era parts! The neck is the unusual "A" style, 1 1/2" wide at the nut; this narrow neck was a catalog option but in practice is rarely seen. It is dated September 1964; this unusual width may well have sat in stock for some time before being assembled onto a guitar. The pickups are dated 5-65, so the guitar was likely assembled and sold around that time.

The Olympic white finish with matching headstock was also a custom option. Other appointments include the thin rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlay, tortoise plastic laminated pickguard, and L-series serial number. This is a really good-playing and fine-sounding Jazzmaster, with a slightly unusual feel due to the narrow neck; an interesting and cool mid-'60s custom Fender.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.).

Nice, original guitar; the knobs are repro, but all other hardware original. Good original finish with some minor chipping and uneven fade, but overall a very attractive Jazzmaster.

The original case is included, but has been re-covered in a fairly amateur manner and the latches have been replaced. Generally Excellent Condition.
