Item #6511
Fender Jazzmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1960), made in Fullerton, California, sunburst lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, hard shell case.
This is a well-played but all original early slab-board Jazzmaster with a neck marking of 8-60, penciled soon after Fender resumed neck dating that year. These early 60's Jazzmasters were the top of the Fender line at the time and are exceptionally fine instruments, with a still-unique sound. This one is newly set up and ready for its next 50 years of service.
Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). A nicely worn-in Jazzmaster, but original with no major alterations or repairs; the finish has faded to a 2-tone sunburst and has quite a bit of loss to the lacquer on the back, less to the front with one notable armwear patch above the vibrato. Most of the lacquer is worn off the back of the neck. The pickguard has noticeable shrinkage overall, wiith some attendant warping; there is a crack to the thin section of the guard just over the bridge pickup. With a new perfect refret with period-correct wire and new bone nut this is an excellent player; the sound is very fine and particularly well balanced. Includes a newer HSC. Very Good + Condition.
