Item #4380

Fender Jaguar Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1963), made in Fullerton, California, sunburst lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original blond tolex hard shell case.

A very nice pre-CBS Jaguar, all original and great-sounding. Typical '63-4 features, unbound rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlay, blended 3-color sunburst, and gold "transition" logo. The Jaguar remains an under-appreciated guitar with several interesting features. The model features the same vibrato unit and rhythm/lead circuit as the Jazzmaster with the addition of individual on/off switches for the pickups. The "Jag" is a flexible guitar with a lot of sonic options.

The scale length is shorter than most Fender guitars and the pickups are optimized for clarity and crispness, factors that led to the Jaguar losing popularity in the late '60s as twang went out and distortion and crunch came in! Nevertheless, these are top-of-the line '60s Fenders; extremely popular when new and very high quality guitars. This one includes the original mute still in working order and even the oft-missing bridge cover.

Overall length is 40 1/8 in. (101.9 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

All original hardware. Very nice overall with some general play wear, a fairly large belt-buckle wear spot to the back, and an odd touched up area on the back in the lower bout area. Overall a great-looking and sounding pre-CBS Jaguar, with original case and matching-number hang tag. Excellent Condition.
