Fender Jaguar Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1962), made in Fullerton, California, sunburst lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
This all-original, first-year Jaguar shows very few signs of play, and with the original (or at least period) flatwound strings offers a world of serious twang for surfing styles and beyond. The Jaguar debuted in 1962 as Fender's top-of-the line; this guitar was a serious status symbol for many types of combos in the early '60's, especially California teen surf bands. This one has typical '62 features: unbound thick rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlay, blended 3-color sunburst, gold "transition" logo. The Jaguar remains an under-appreciated guitar with several interesting features. The model features the same vibrato unit and rhythm/lead circuit as the Jazzmaster with the addition of individual on/off switches for the pickups; the "Jag" is a flexible guitar with a lot of sonic options.
The scale length at 24" is shorter than most Fender guitars and the pickups are optimized for clarity and crispness�factors that led to the Jaguar losing popularity in the late '60's as twang went out and distortion and crunch came in! Nevertheless these are still the top-of-the line 60's Fenders; extremely popular when new and extremely high quality guitars. This one includes the original mute (still working) and even the oft-missing bridge cover; truly an exceptional example and simply the nicest Jaguar we have ever had!
Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 13 7/8 in. (35.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). 100% original (down to 5 of the 6 the strings!) and just super clean overall...a few tiny dings, but really this guitar shows very little wear. Includes an excellent original brown case with bridge wrench packet, strap , warranty hangtag and instruction manual. Excellent + Condition.
