Fender Deluxe Model 5D3 Model Tube Amplifier (1955), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 4201, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 16 in. (40.6 cm.), 20 in. (50.8 cm.) width, and 9 1/2 in. (24.1 cm.) deep. This old wide-panel Deluxe shows some typical wear and scuffing but boy does it sing! With a tube chart dating it to May 1955 this amp has had a full servicing including a cap job and a modern 3-prong cord added, but retains the original transformers, Jensen speaker (18th week of 1955, missing the magnet cover) and pots (dated to 47th week of 1954). Older repro handle, all original tweed, grillcloth and other fittings. Set up with recent power tubes this amp works fine and sounds fantastic, with a full grinding overdrive palette at volume, and a nice snarly twang at low levels. A great gigging or recording amp, very quiet (that's those new filter caps at work) and a joy to play through. There are two names inside this amp; "Lily" who presumably assembled the chassis left her penciled tag on it in masking tape, while the original owner (or close to, anyway) put an address label discreetly hidden under the back panel. This sort of thing always reminds of the human element of these objects, which we covet, use and then pass along through the years. This one should be still singing for a long time to go! Excellent - Condition.
