Item #7902

Fender Champ-Amp 5F1 Model Tube Amplifier (1959), made in Fullerton, California, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 12 in. (30.5 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) width, and 8 in. (20.3 cm.) deep.

This is an (externally) somewhat worn but really fine-sounding example of the 1959 Champ, often considered one of the greatest small amps ever. This one shows a lot of staining, some wear to the tweed, and corrosion to the faceplate, but it remains largely intact including the leather handle. The amp has had an added 3-prong cord and there has been some cap work, but everything is to period spec. and the amp still retains the searing sound typical of these in spades! The power tubes are period Delco and Phillips and the preamp tube is new. A great Champ with a bit more muscle and headroom than the earlier versions, retaining the singing distortion these are loved for when cranked. Overall Very Good + Condition.
