F. Benko Tambouritza, made in Toronto, Ont., natural lacquer finish, spruce top, mahogany back and sides, black tolex hard shell case.
A nicely made and very good sounding older Tambouritza. Marked internally "Benko Musical String Instruments, 920 Kingston Road, Toronto 13". Good grade spruce top with white celluloid binding and half-herringbone inlay around the edge and soundhole. Bound headstock with fancy enclosed tuners with pearloid buttons.
This is a professional grade playing instrument, not "tourist" grade. The Tambouritza is a popular Balkan instrument and an interesting 'double' for the guitar, tenor, or mandolin player.
Overall length is 36 1/8 in. (91.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 21 1/2 in. (546 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).
Appears all original with light average playing wear. Excellent Condition.
