Epiphone Windsor Custom Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1961), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 39236, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, brown chipboard case.

The Windsor is a fairly rare Epiphone model only produced (by Gibson in Kalamazoo) for a few years in the early 1960's. It carries a slightly odd mix of features with a thinline, single cutaway hollow body (like the similar Sorrento) mounting a single pickup but gold-plated hardware. This 1961 model has a transitional combination of the older New York style headstock logo plate with the newer Kalamazoo-issue mini-humbucking pickup. The body is single-bound back and front and the unbound fingerboard has the Epiphone-specific oval pearloid inlay used on several midline models. This guitar also has a period "Mono-Plak" truss rod cover with the original owner's name engraved-"Bob Blades". This is a great-playing guitar, a bit fancier than the much more common but otherwise similar Sorrento model. A very cool and slightly offbeat early Kalamazoo Epiphone.

Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 16 5/16 in. (41.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 11/16 in. (627 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This is a very nice original guitar, with minimal wear and no alterations except new keystone buttons on the original gold-plated Kluson Deluxe tuners. There is some fairly heavy corrosion to the pickguard bracket, a bit on the pickup cover and the "E" epsilon logo on the pickguard has lost some of its silver color; other than this the guitar shows only the lightest wear and checking. Much of the interior blue label is worn away but the model name is still legible. This is an excellent player with the typical flat 1960 neck profile and a singing tone from its single mini-humbucking pickup. Overall Excellent Condition.
